Our Lava Caves and Swim Tour begins with a swim at Richardson's Black Sand Beach. Enjoy the crystal clear waters and vibrant coral reefs home to numerous groups of native sea turtles. Take a swim in these tranquil waters and be immersed in the ease of Island living.
Next we bring you along historical Banyan Drive. This street was built as a hosting site for Presidents, dignitaries, and celebrities of the time. Each tree was planted by celebrities such as Cecil B. DeMille, Babe Ruth, and Amelia Earhart. These trees planted as saplings now tower over the the roads and walkways below.
We continue our fun filled tour with a trip to Liliuokalani Gardens. Named in the honor of Queen Liliuokalani, Hawaii's last reigning monarch, this 5 acre park was built in a traditional Japanese (Edo Period) setting. Take a relaxing stroll through these beautiful gardens surrounded by the gorgeous views of Hilo Bay.
Our trip goes takes a turn inland as we make our way to Kaumana Caves lava tubes. Kaumana Caves was once an active lava tube. It is said that Kaumana Caves goes for miles with numerous underground connections. Because of its mystery many local legends speak of these caves as a resting place for spirits that have yet to pass on.
Next, enjoy a 3 mile drive through macadamia nut orchards. At the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Visitor center view the nut & chocolate processing plant where macadamia nuts are husked, and the nut and carefully dried. You will be able to view the delicious array of macadamia nut products that are packaged at the plant. Delight in chocolate demonstrations where Mauna Loa experts hand-dip tasty macadamia nut shortbread cookies into pure rich milk chocolate!
Our last stop of the day finishes with a Soak and Swim at Carlsmith Beach Park. This area is known for its cool tranquil waters and excellent sea turtle viewing experience. Many locals frequent this beach for its cleansing and healing waters. A combination of fresh water springs (waters from Mauna Kea), and nutrient rich waters of the ocean, blend to provide a nourishing mix of cleansing and tonification for the body.
